MEASURING BODY SHAPE AT HOME

Figuring out your body shape can be like solving a fun little puzzle. In the long run it helps you understand how clothes fit you best so you can dress with confidence. Grab a soft measuring tape (the kind that bends, not the metal one from the toolbox), and let’s do this step by step!

  • Wear the Right Clothes

Put on something fitted, like leggings and a snug tank top, or just measure over your undergarments. We want to measure you, not your baggy sweatshirt

  • Stand Tall & Relax

Stand up straight with your feet together. Try to stay relaxed, no sucking in or blowing out! Just be natural.

  • Measure These Four Spots

    1. SHOULDERS: This is tricky, so you might need a helper! Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your shoulders, keeping it level all the way around. Don’t pull too tight!

    2. BUST: Measure around the fullest part of your chest (usually across your nipples). Make sure the tape measure is resting comfortably!

    3. WAIST: Find the smallest part of your waist (usually above your belly button but below your ribcage). This is your natural waistline. Breathe normally, and don’t pull the tape too tight!

    4. HIPS: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, which is usually around your booty. Make sure the tape is straight and even, not drooping down in the back.

  • Compare Your Numbers

    1. HOURGLASS: Your bust and hips are about the same size, and your waist is noticeably smaller

    2. RECTANGLE:  Your bust, waist, and hips are all pretty similar in measurement, without big curves.

    3. TRIANGLE: Your hips are the biggest measurement, while your bust and waist are smaller.

    4. ROUND: Your bust or waist is the largest measurement, and your hips are a bit smaller.

    5. INVERTED TRIANGLE: Your shoulders or bust are the biggest, while your hips are smaller.

Now that you know your shape, you can start choosing clothes that balance your proportions and highlight your favorite features. No shape is better than another. It’s all about understanding what works for you!
