Why does it seem that at this time of year I find myself purchasing, or wanting to purchase, new outfits for holiday parties & outings? I never think to remember the many holiday outfits from previous years that are still sitting in my closet, some never even worn and with the tags still on.

Yet, like clockwork the invites start coming in as so begins the shopping. I always justify my shopping trips with the fact that there are different styles than last year, or that it’s on sale and I would be crazy to pass up this great “deal.” And even though I have to admit that there is something special about a new outfit, it’s not always the best way to spend money during the holiday season.

Recently though I began taking my own advice and started using my summer and fall wardrobe to tie into my current winter pieces. It’s a great way to force myself to dispose of any unwanted or unworn clothing items while creating fabulous looks.
