I tell all of my clients to follow through and commit! Whether it is one of my style specific clients or a pageant contestant the rule of committing applies to both! Have you ever complimented someone on their look and they go on and on basically arguing about what went wrong while putting their outfit together and it really shouldn’t look like that! I think that when this happens it is truly unfortunate!
Why can’t we commit to our look and style and just say thank you? Just today I bought an extra set of rollers and put a lot more in my hair than usual. I almost caught myself in this very trap! When I took all of the rollers out my hair was so much curlier than usual! I started doubting myself and my look but then I though wait a minute why can’t I rock a super curly look.
When I did receive compliments I simply said “thank you” instead of explaining the story that I just did to you and making excuses that allowed me to be insecure and lack self confidence. I was committed. The key to style is taking risks, if you are too afraid to try new things you will always be stuck.
You will also be surprised that when you do take a risk if you stay committed and thank people that give you a compliment you will begin to have confidence in your style decisions and you true inner fashionista will be born!
Like I mentioned “committing” also pertains to pageants. The reality of it is that these young women are putting themselves out there, on stage to be judged by strangers. Committing to the process will change your experience for the better. When you are choosing a gown or perfecting your interview skills you must commit. Stay true to yourself and represent yourself well.
While on stage in any phases of competition or in the interview commitment means seeing your decisions through no matter what.
For example, if you deviate from the walking pattern we have practiced a hundred times while competing on stage you have to commit to what pattern you are doing instead. No one will know except for you that you have made a mistake.
You can choose to let others know too by your facial expressions but why? Commit and pull it off! Commitment and follow through are valued and appreciated. There are many ways that we can commit in our everyday day lives so go ahead and COMMIT!
